Final International University students participated in the University Chess Competition organized by the TRNC University Sports Federation for both men's and women's teams, and the FIU men's team came second in the tournament in which our university was participating for the very first time. This is a very proud achievement for FIU and for our students at this early stage in our growth as a university

The competition was held at the Nicosia Atatürk Sports Complex Athletic Training Center with teams of four male and four female student competitors. FIU was represented by Oleksandr Zahoriichuk, Dias Nurkin, Yamaç Samani and Metehan Turkes in the men’s competition and Kubra Ekici, Cubra Tezcan, Teslime Özdemir, Aysun Naim and Hatice Bahçeci in the women’s competition. The competitions were fiercely contested with other university teams, including Girne Chess Team, Girne American University, Eastern Mediterranean University, Lefke European University, Near East University and Atatürk Teachers' Academy. FIU completed four wins with victory and qualified to participate in the finals with Eastern Mediterranean University, achieving second place at the end of the competition.

As FIU grows we look forward to forming more sporting teams and enjoying further successes. Preparations for future tournaments are already underway.
