FINAL INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY BID FAREWELL TO ITS FIRST GRADUATES WITH A MAGNIFICENT CEREMONY

Final International University, which started its education life in Çatalköy Girne in 2015, had their first graduation ceremony on July 18. 23 students from Pre-school Teaching, Psychological Counselling and Guidance, Business Administration, Tourism and Hotel Management and Physical Education and Sports Teaching programmes, who successfully completed their 4-year undergraduate education, graduated with a magnificent ceremony.

The graduation ceremony started at 15:00 at the Çatalköy campus with the distribution of city preference forms to students who had job guarantees. The ceremony, which attracted great interest from students and families, continued at the Acapulco Resort Ballroom. The graduates attended a gala dinner after the cap throwing ceremony.

Finance Minister Olgun Amcaoğlu, Economy and Energy Minister Hasan Taçoy, TRNC Deputy Parliament Speaker Zorlu Töre, YÖDAK Members, Government officials, guests and families attended the ceremony in order to celebrate the first graduation of FIU. Ministers Olgun Amcaoğlu, Hasan Taçoy, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Zorlu Töre and Dimağ Çağıner, Chairman of the FIU Board of Trustees congratulated the graduates and wished them success. FIU Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Ercan Uygur and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees İbrahim Taşel, who could not give a speech at the ceremony because they were abroad, shared their messages via video. Mr. Uygur and Mr. Taşel shared their thoughts about the past, present and future of FIU and proudly congratulated the new graduates. The FIU staff and students joyfully listened to the speech given by Prof. Dr. Abdullah Yücel Öztoprak, who recently left his position as the rector of FIU.

During the ceremony, which lasted about 2 hours, 23 students from Pre-school Teaching, Psychological Counselling and Guidance, Business Administration, Tourism and Hotel Management and Physical Education and Sports Teaching programmes who successfully completed their 4-year undergraduate education, threw their caps with joy.

The highest ranked student was Donald Ticha Teghen, graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Program. The second highest ranked student was Leman Tatlıcı, graduated from the Faculty of Education, Preschool Teaching Program and the third highest ranked student was Faraz Ahmed Hayat graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Business Administration Program.

In order to meet the requirements of the pandemic period, precautions were taken to maintain social distance and wearing a mask was made compulsory. Family members who couldn’t attend the ceremony and families of foreign students were able to watch the live broadcast of the ceremony.

The graduates took photos with their families and faculty members and immortalized their graduation ceremony. The joy and excitement of the graduates throwing their caps together with the pigeons being flown to freedom created beautiful images.
